After successfully launching the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400, Triumph and Bajaj Auto seem to be expanding their lineup with a new cafe racer. Spy shots of the motorcycle, likely to be called the Thruxton 400, have surfaced online, hinting that the bike is in its final stages of development.

The new model draws inspiration from the larger Thruxton 1200 and is built on the Speed 400’s platform. The spy images reveal a design that stays true to the cafe racer ethos, featuring a curved rear cowl, round headlight, and low-set clip-on handlebars. While it is likely to share much of its underpinnings with the Speed 400, including the chassis, wheels, suspension, and braking setup, its sportier stance and retro semi-fairing set it apart.
Recent spy shots show the motorcycle without any camouflage or testing equipment, suggesting that it is nearing production. The engine bay and body panels appear to have a finished look, indicating that Triumph and Bajaj could be preparing for an official unveiling soon.

Power will be delivered through the same 398cc, single-cylinder engine, paired with a six-speed gearbox. This powerplant also does its duties in the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X. In fact, it is also employed in the Speed T4, but the latter has been tuned for enhanced lower-end torque suited for city rides.
